German Motor Sports Team-Pilot Valentino Catalano reist als Tabellenführer zum Saisonfinale des Prototype Cup Europe nach Spa-Francorchamps.

Die Debütsaison des Prototype Cup Europe endet auf der Ardennenachterbahn von Spa-Francorchamps. Das GMS Team wird mit Unterstützung von GEBHARDT Motorsport auf dem Traditionskurs in Belgien zwei Ligier JS P325 einsetzen.

Nach zwei Saisonsiegen und zwei zweiten Plätzen reist Valentino Catalano als Tabellenführer nach Belgien. Catalano kämpft nach den Titelgewinnen im Prototype Cup Germany 2024 sowie in der IMSA VP Sports Car Championship 2025 um seinen dritten großen Titel im LMP3-Sport. Das Fahrzeug teilt er sich mit Danny Soufi, welcher seit dem zweiten Rennwochenende an der Seite von Catalano antritt. Durch ihre erfolgreiche Saison haben Catalano und Soufi zudem großen Anteil daran, dass das GMS Team auch in der Teamwertung an der Spitze liegt.

Insgesamt zwei Ligier JS P325 wird das Team in den Ardennen einsetzen. Im zweiten Fahrzeug des Rennstalls treten Oscar Tunjo und Jake Williamson an und versuchen das Schwesterfahrzeug im Titelkampf bestmöglich zu unterstützen.

Sollte Catalano den Titel gewinnen, wartet auf das GMS Team ein attraktiver Preis. Für den Meister im Prototype Cup Europe wird ein Startplatz im Michelin Le Mans Cup 2027 – der weltweit wichtigsten und größten LMP3-Serie – reserviert. Der Michelin Le Mans Cup wird an fünf Rennwochenenden im Rahmenprogramm der European Le Mans Series austragen und fährt zudem ein dreistündiges Rennen im Rahmen der 24h Le Mans aus.

„Unser Ziel für die Veranstaltung in Spa-Francorchamps ist ganz klar: Wir wollen die Titel in der Fahrer- und Teamwertung einfahren. In den vergangenen zwei Veranstaltungen hatten Valentino und Danny einen tollen Speed, den wir auch in Spa-Francorchamps umsetzen wollen. Nachdem Oscar und Jake in Monza zuletzt mit technischen Problemen zu kämpfen hatten, steigen sie für das Saisonfinale auf einen Ligier um. Uns ist klar, dass es keine einfache Aufgabe wird, aber ich bin mir sicher, dass wir mit einer fehlerfreien Leistung gute Chancen auf die Titel haben“, so Fritz Gebhardt.

Das Saisonfinale des Prototype Cup Europe findet im Rahmen des 992 Endurance Cup statt, so dass beide Rennen bereits am Freitag, den 4. September stattfinden. Die Rennen starten um 12:55 Uhr sowie um 17:20 Uhr und sind auf YouTube verfolgbar.

German Motor Sports Team driver Valentino Catalano heads to Spa-Francorchamps for the Prototype Cup Europe season finale as the championship leader.

The debut season of the Prototype Cup Europe concludes on the Ardennes rollercoaster circuit at Spa-Francorchamps. With the support of GEBHARDT Motorsport, the GMS Team will field two Ligier JS P325s at the historic Belgian circuit.

Having secured two race wins and two second-place finishes this season, Valentino Catalano heads to Belgium as championship leader. Following his title victories in the 2024 Prototype Cup Germany and the 2025 IMSA VP Sports Car Championship, Catalano is now chasing his third major title in LMP3 racing. He shares the car with Danny Soufi, who has been racing alongside Catalano since the second race weekend. Thanks to their successful season, Catalano and Soufi have also played a major part in ensuring that the GMS Team sits at the top of the team standings.

The team will field a total of two Ligier JS P325s in the Ardennes. Oscar Tunjo and Jake Williamson will drive the team’s second car, aiming to provide the best possible support to the sister car in the title race.

Should Catalano win the title, an attractive prize awaits the GMS Team. A starting place in the 2027 Michelin Le Mans Cup – the world’s most important and largest LMP3 series – will be reserved for the Prototype Cup Europe champion. The Michelin Le Mans Cup will be held over five race weekends as part of the European Le Mans Series support programme and will also feature a three-hour race as part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“Our goal for the event at Spa-Francorchamps is very clear: we want to secure the drivers’ and teams’ titles. In the past two events, Valentino and Danny showed great pace, which we aim to replicate at Spa-Francorchamps. After Oscar and Jake recently struggled with technical issues at Monza, they will be switching to a Ligier for the season finale. We realise it won’t be an easy task, but I’m confident that with a flawless performance, we’ll have a good chance of winning the titles,” said Fritz Gebhardt.

The Prototype Cup Europe season finale will take place as part of the 992 Endurance Cup, meaning both races will be held on Friday 4 September. The races start at 12.55 pm and 5.20 pm and can be watched on YouTube.
